Middle park fishing report for the week of 8-27

Here is your Middle Park fishing report for the week of 8-27-19.  Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is 64 in the early AM. Water level is at 89% and dropping. Last weeks stocking of 3,500 small Rainbows put a hurt on the Pike bite. Pike fishing is slow but if one keeps after it you may come up with a fish or two. Fish the shore line for small Pike, deeper water for trophies. Lake trout bite has slowed dramatically this week. Small metal spoons tipped with sucker meat are producing more hits than rubber jigs in 80 to 100 foot of water. Shore fisherman are catching the recently stocked Rainbows on small spinners or fly and bubble late in the day. Bank fishing the bottom with bait is slow. You'll catch more Crawdads than fish. Grand Lake, The fishing has drastically slowed down, but a few lake trout are being caught on small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Rainbows are best in the evening with small spoons or a fly and bubble combination. 

Lake Granby, Rainbows are best early and late using small spoons or fly and a bubble combo. Lake Trout are in 60-120' of water. They were hitting slab spoons tipped with sucker meat, small power bait twister tails and tubes tipped with sucker meat. A few kokanee have been caught by trollers in Columbine bay. 

Wolford, The kokanee fishing has been very good. Down riggers or jigging spoons seem to have the highest success rate. Keep changing colors and speed till they bite.

Middle Park fishing report for the week of 8-21-18

Here is your Middle Park fishing report for the week of 8-21-19. Williams Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is holding steady at 64 at 6AM. Water level is at 90% and dropping daily. Will Fork was stocked with 3,500 Rainbows last week. Say goodby to Pike fishing in the east boat ramp bay for a couple of weeks! It had to happen some time... the lake trout bite has gotten slow. We are seeing plenty of fish in 80' to 100' of water but getting them to bite is difficult. We keep moving from spot to spot dropping rubber jigs tipped with sucker meat on the fish and get a very light hit or two at each spot at or near the bottom. Moving from spot to spot I'm seeing small schools of Kokanee at 40'. Trollers are hooking up with an occasional Kokanee, Rainbow or small lake trout. Bottom fishing from shore is slow but Rainbows are breaking the surface early AM, late PM and overcast days. Casting to groups of rises with small spoons or spinners should produce some hits. Grand Lake is fishing well in the evenings for rainbows and an occasional brown trout. Casting spoons or a fly and a bubble to risers has been very successful. Lake trout have gotten a little more picky this week. sizing down seemed to help. 

Wolford has been fishing very well for kokanee, trollers with lead core line or down riggers have been catching fish consistently. he key seems to be changing colors when the fish quit hitting. Jiggers have been doing very well with "reel bait:" Plain jane spoons tipped with wax worms, shrimp or white shoe peg corn.

Lake Granby, The rainbows are hitting powerbait and lures fished near the shorelines. A few kokanee are showing top in the deeper water in Grand bay. Lake trout are getting finicky. Changing lure colors often seems to help the bite.

Middle Park fishing report for the week of 8-13-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 8-13-2108. Williams Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is 64 in the AM warming to 69/70 by the end of the day. Water level is 92%. For August the lake trout bite is still good on younger fish. We are catching in 80' to 100' of water on rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat. By noon to 1PM jigging goes flat until the evening. Very light hits are at or within a few inches of the bottom. Trollers are catching Rainbows as deep as 20' and picking up an occasional adult Kokanee at 40'. Northern Pike are hit or miss. If the weather stacks up right you have good chance at a trophy. Fish shallow water early AM and late PM. Under blue sunny skies on a calm day fish deeper. Grand Lake, Rainbows are eating flies and small spoons late in the evening. Lake trout are hitting small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Try working 60'-80' along the edges. 

Wolford. Kokanee are moving into deeper water. Jigging "slab" spoons like Reel Bait "Plain Jane's" at the tops of the schools has been working well. Trollers are catching fish with squid and dodger combos. Rainbows have been hitting "Power Bait" near the shores. 

Lake Granby was stocked with about 9000 catchable rainbows last week. The shoreline fishing should be good early and late in the day. Lake trout are hitting small spoons, tubes and minnow patterns tipped with sucker meat and jigged in 60'-80'of water. Trollers are doing well with down riggers and spoons while fishing 60'-80' over 100'-150' of water.

Weekly fishing report for the week of 8-7-2018

Williams Fork, Surface temp has dropped a few degrees to 62 in the early AM. Water level is 93%. The Lake trout bite is surprisingly good for early August. The best action is in the first few hours of the morning then steadily drops off until the evening bite. We are catching in 80' to 100' of water. Most any rubber jig tipped with sucker meat will produce hits at or near the bottom. Northern Pike remain hit or miss depending on environmental conditions. Fish deeper water on calm blue sunny days. Move to shallower water during the last couple of hours of daylight. Rainbows are being caught near moving water in the inlet on small spinners. Bank fishing Rainbows on the bottom with bait is frustrating because the crawdads get your bait before a fish finds it. Grand Lake, Rainbows and browns are being caught along the shorelines early and late in the day. Small spoons or a  fly and bubble seem to be producing fish. Lake trout are getting a little tougher to catch. Looking for fish that have not seen a lot of pressure seems to be key right now. Small white and  glow jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat have been producing a few fish in 40'-50' of water.

Lake Granby, The water level is dropping, air temps have been down to 32 on some mornings. Water temps are hovering around 65. A few rainbows are being caught trolling the shorelines with small crank baits. Bank fishermen seem to be doing best early and late in the day with small spoons or a fly and a bubble. Look for the fish rising and cast to them. Lake trout fishing is still fair to good on most days. Tubes and spoons tipped with sucker meat seem to be doing best for the jiggers in 50'-80' of water. Trollers are doing well with spoons. 

The Kokanee at Wolford are schooling up, trollers with lead core or down riggers are doing well right now. Look for the schools to go deeper this month, when they do, drop slab spoons to the schools.
